Ham Shack

Welcome to my HAM Shack!

Yellow Glass Spinning Saturn

This is my first attempt at designing a web page. I am sure I will "date myself" by this remark. I will tell a little about myself.

During WWII I was placed in a school to learn high speed morse code. I came out of the class with the ability to send 25wpm and receive 35wpm. In civilian life I enrolled in a Radio Broadcast Engineering school and because of what I learned there it was very easy for me to pass the Amateur Radio General License. My first call sign was W5NTH. I had several years when my key was silent. After retirement from work I once again picked up my HAM License. My call sign is now AC6US. I enjoy Morse code but have never regained the speed I had with my first HAM license. I now have a 100 watt ICON transceiver. I have a multi-band vertical antenna and have built a 40meter/20 meter dipole antenna. I have the top Amateur Radio Operator License which is titled "Extra License". This permits me to operate on any Amateur Band, to adjust, repair or build any HAM equipment.

Another hobby that I have is painting in oil, acrylic or pastel. I especially enjoy trying my hand at portrait painting. I like to take a blank canvas and have a face come out on it. I enjoy painting live, when I can get a person with enough patience to sit for me. I am not very active in this.

Of course I have picked up this hobby and I am using a computer that I built myself from scratch. This I find very interesting to get the parts and bring them to life.

Our family bought this two story house in a cul-de-sac that was built in the '60s and I find plenty of work around trying to update it a little. Each thing I build or improve is a success.
